In 2024, ACEP researchers Jesse Kaczmarski, Dominique Pride, and Erin Trochin published a paper on the energy burden experienced within the Fairbanks North Star Borough (10.5281/zenodo.12575185). Energy burden was analyzed across census tracts within the borough, which made for some compelling maps. In an effort to expand these map products, J. Kaczmarski and I. MacDougall created an online web map of the data.

• A sidebar with sliders allowed users to change the price of energy sources, which rendered dynamically on the map.
• A clickable tooltip displayed summary information about the census tract.
• Additional layers, such as city and military boundaries could be added using checkboxes.
• Download buttons allowed users to download data rendered from the input sliders prices at the moment of click, complete with a data dictionary and readme file, all bundled into a .zip file.
• Code repository was tagged and given a DOI
